SAM’s Asia Talks: Helen Zughaib with Laila Kazmi

In July, I had the pleasure of hosting a virtual interview with Lebanese and Syrian American artist Helen Zughaib. Our conversation was part of the Asia Talks series at the Seattle Art Museum.

Zughaib is one of the most well known Arab American visual artists. Her work has been gifted to heads of states by President Obama and Secretary Hillary Clinton. Her series The Syrian Migration depicting the Syrian refugee crisis is inspired by Jacob Lawrence's Migration Series. She joined us for the conversation from her home in Washington DC.

Helen Zughaib’s work will be on display at the Middle East Institute for Art and Culture in Washington DC on Sept 23, 2020 - Jan 21, 2021.

You can find out more about work at: hzughaib.com
